A Historical Note…

In 1976, a young systems engineer named Ed Sims walked into the Naval Training Equipment Conference at the old Peabody Hotel in Orlando. It was his first year at GE Aerospace, and one of his first professional conferences. The exhibit hall wasn’t filled with towering flight simulators or immersive displays. It was rows of poster boards. A 300-megabyte disk drive was the size of a refrigerator. And “simulation” wasn’t even part of the conference name yet.

But to Ed, it was unforgettable. Ed has attended every single Interservice / Industry Training, Simulation, and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) since those early days—this year marks his 50th consecutive conference. Check out this excellent recap on our LinkedIn page.
